What is it and how does it work?Perforan
Work, stress, the years: many men look for a simple way to top up their diet. Perforan is a food supplement in capsules, presented as “support for male strength” and sold through the Vivellify online shop.
Each box holds 60 capsules, which lasts 30 days at two capsules a day. The formula combines two extracts (cordyceps and ginseng), maca root powder, an amino acid (L-arginine) and four micronutrients: zinc, selenium, folic acid and vitamin D3. According to the box, Perforan is made in Germany for Vivello Solutions Ltd (Ashbourne, United Kingdom), and the official shop says it is developed and tested in German laboratories.
Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood. Selenium contributes to normal spermatogenesis. Folate contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function.2
These are the health claims authorised in the European Union for the formula's micronutrients, at the amounts on the label. For ginseng, maca and cordyceps no claim has been authorised so far: claims for plants are still “on hold” in the official EU register1, and the claims proposed for L-arginine were not authorised. That is why we do not repeat performance promises, and no study has been published on Perforan itself.
Let's be realistic: no supplement guarantees results. Age, sleep, diet, exercise and overall health all play a big part, and every man responds differently.
The formula
Tap an ingredient to see its dose. The ingredients appear in the order of the official ingredient list. The label gives the amount and the % NRV3 for six of them; it does not state the amounts of cordyceps and maca, even though they come first on the list4.
- Cordyceps extract 10:1 (mycelium): A mushroom long used in Chinese and Tibetan tradition. Here, a 10:1 concentrated extract made from the mycelium.
- Maca root powder: A plant from the Peruvian Andes, long eaten as a food and very common in formulas for men.
- L-arginine (base) – 240 mg: An amino acid found in meat, fish and nuts. The body uses it to make nitric oxide, a molecule involved in widening the blood vessels.
- Ginseng extract (8% ginsenosides) – 120 mg: One of the best-known plants of Asian tradition. The extract is standardised to 8% ginsenosides, its active compounds, which is 9.6 mg per daily dose.
- Zinc (zinc citrate) – 10 mg: Contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood (claim authorised in the EU).
- Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) – 10 µg: Contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function (claim authorised in the EU). 10 µg equals 400 IU.
- Folic acid – 400 µg: Folate contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue (claim authorised in the EU).
- Selenium (sodium selenite) – 60 µg: Contributes to normal spermatogenesis (claim authorised in the EU).
The full ingredient list reads: cordyceps extract 10:1 (mycelium), maca root powder, L-arginine base, capsule shell (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), ginseng extract (8% ginsenosides), zinc citrate trihydrate, medium-chain triglycerides (coconut oil), cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), pteroylmonoglutamic acid (folic acid) and sodium selenite pentahydrate (selenium).
Dosage and useTwo a day
Recommended use: two (2) capsules a day with plenty of liquid. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. A box of 60 capsules therefore lasts 30 days.
- Take the capsules every day, ideally at the same time
- Swallow them with a large glass of water
- Eat a varied, balanced diet
- Stay active and get enough sleep
- Keep the box sealed, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, below 25 °C
- Do not use if the safety seal is broken or missing
Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of the reach of children.
Side effectsIs it safe?
The official website lists no side effects, and Perforan's ingredients are common in food supplements. Digestive discomfort, an intolerance or an allergic reaction are still possible: if so, stop taking it and ask a doctor for advice.
According to the label, the product is not for people under 18 or for pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you have a medical condition, take any medication or have other concerns, talk to your doctor before starting. L-arginine and ginseng can interact with some medicines, such as those for blood pressure or blood thinners.
Do not exceed the recommended daily intake: the formula already supplies 200% of the NRV for vitamin D and folic acid, worth keeping in mind if you take another supplement that contains them. Perforan is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Safety and money-back guaranteeCovered for 60 days
The official shop offers a 60-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied, you contact customer service within 60 days of purchase to get the return instructions.
Under the delivery, returns and refunds policy, you first email customer service (contact@vivellify-support.com) to get a return ID. At most two boxes may be opened, any others must stay sealed, and empty boxes must be sent back as well. The guarantee applies to the first purchase, delivery costs are not refunded and the customer pays for the return to the warehouse in Hamburg.
According to the box, Perforan is made in Germany for Vivello Solutions Ltd (Ashbourne, United Kingdom), the company that runs the Vivellify shop. Orders are shipped with tracking.

Is Perforan a scam?The facts
Before buying a men's supplement online, it makes sense to check how serious the offer is. The market is full of exaggerated promises, and not every brand is equally transparent. Perforan publishes a full label with the dose of most of its ingredients and presents itself as a supplement to take for several weeks, not as a miracle cure.
What reassures
- Detailed label with the dose of 6 of the 8 active ingredients
- Named company (Vivello Solutions Ltd) and published return terms
- 60-day money-back guarantee and one-time payment with no subscription
- Well-known payment methods (card, PayPal)
Good to know
- The amounts of cordyceps and maca are not stated
- No health claim is authorised in the EU for ginseng, maca, cordyceps or L-arginine
- The customer pays for returns
- No study has been published on Perforan itself
- Results vary from person to person
Our verdict: Perforan is not a scam in the sense of a product that never arrives or an unsafe payment: the label is detailed, the company is named and the guarantee is in writing. But it is a food supplement, not a treatment, and it replaces neither a balanced diet nor medical advice. If you want to try it, order from the official website so the guarantee applies.

Studies cited
For each ingredient, we list two studies found in the scientific literature. The summaries describe what each study measured and found. They do not promise results: most of these studies are small or short, used doses higher than those on the Perforan label, several gave the ingredient together with others, and some found no effect. We found no published study on Perforan itself.
Cordyceps (mycelium extract)
Double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot trial in 20 healthy adults aged 50 to 75. 333 mg of Cs-4, a Cordyceps sinensis mycelium preparation, three times a day for 12 weeks. The metabolic threshold on a cycle test rose by 10.5% and the ventilatory threshold by 8.5%; maximal oxygen uptake did not change, and the placebo group showed no change.
Limitation: Very small pilot study about exercise capacity, not sexual function; it used about 1 g a day of a specific preparation, while Perforan does not state its cordyceps amount or species.

Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 28 young adults. 4 g a day of a mushroom blend containing Cordyceps militaris, or placebo. After one week nothing changed significantly; after three weeks (10 volunteers), maximal oxygen uptake improved and the time to exhaustion was longer than with placebo.
Limitation: A blend of several mushrooms, so the effect of cordyceps alone cannot be separated; only 10 people took it for three weeks, and the outcome was exercise, not sexual function.

Maca (root powder)
Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in healthy men aged 21 to 56, over 12 weeks. 1,500 mg or 3,000 mg of gelatinised maca. Self-reported sexual desire improved from week 8; testosterone and oestradiol did not differ from placebo.
Limitation: The outcome was self-reported, and the authors suggest the effect does not come through the hormones measured; the trial used 1.5 to 3 g a day, while Perforan does not state its maca amount.

Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 80 men with late-onset hypogonadism symptoms and normal testosterone. 1,000 mg three times a day for 12 weeks. Scores for ageing-male symptoms, erectile function (IIEF) and urinary symptoms (IPSS) improved more than with placebo.
Limitation: Questionnaire-based outcomes and a dose of 3 g a day; Perforan does not state its maca amount.

L-arginine
Systematic review and meta-analysis of 10 randomised trials with 540 men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction. Arginine at 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day improved erectile dysfunction compared with placebo or no treatment (odds ratio 3.37).
Limitation: Small trials in men who already had erectile dysfunction; the doses were about 6 to 20 times the 240 mg in Perforan.
Rhim HC, Kim MS, Park YJ, et al. J Sex Med. 2019;16(2):223-234. PMID 30770070 · Read on PubMed
Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 50 men with organic erectile dysfunction. 5 g a day for six weeks. 9 of 29 men on arginine reported a subjective improvement, against 2 of 17 on placebo; objective measures did not change.
Limitation: Older, small study; the improvement was self-reported, objective measures did not change, and the dose was about 20 times that in Perforan.

Ginseng (root extract)
Cochrane systematic review of 9 randomised trials comparing ginseng with placebo in men with erectile dysfunction. Ginseng had a trivial effect on the erectile function score, may have improved self-reported ability to have intercourse, and caused no more side effects than placebo.
Limitation: The authors rate the certainty of the evidence as low; the trials used different types and doses of ginseng, mostly higher than the 120 mg in Perforan.

Double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 143 men with erectile dysfunction: 1,000 mg of a tissue-cultured mountain ginseng extract twice a day for 8 weeks. Erectile function and overall satisfaction scores were higher than with placebo.
Limitation: Only 86 of the 143 men completed the trial; it used a different ginseng preparation at 2 g a day, about 17 times the 120 mg in Perforan.

Zinc
Study in healthy men. Restricting dietary zinc for 20 weeks lowered testosterone in 4 young men, and three to six months of zinc in 9 older men with a marginal deficiency raised it.
Limitation: Very small groups without placebo; the effect concerns men with a zinc deficiency, and Perforan supplies 10 mg, 100% of the NRV.
Prasad AS, Mantzoros CS, Beck FW, Hess JW, Brewer GJ. Nutrition. 1996;12(5):344-8. PMID 8875519 · Read on PubMed
Study in 14 healthy, active men aged 22 to 33 with enough zinc in their diet. A high-dose zinc supplement raised blood zinc but did not change total or free testosterone.
Limitation: Negative result in men without a deficiency; small group, and the dose was much higher than the 10 mg in Perforan.

Vitamin D3
Analysis of 54 overweight men in a randomised, placebo-controlled weight-loss trial, all with low vitamin D at the start. 83 µg (3,332 IU) of vitamin D a day for one year raised total, bioactive and free testosterone compared with baseline; nothing changed in the placebo group.
Limitation: Small subgroup of men with a vitamin D deficiency who were also losing weight; the dose was about 8 times the 10 µg in Perforan, and the authors call for further trials.
Pilz S, Frisch S, Koertke H, et al. Horm Metab Res. 2011;43(3):223-5. PMID 21154195 · Read on PubMed
Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 98 healthy men with normal testosterone and vitamin D below 75 nmol/L. 20,000 IU of vitamin D3 a week for 12 weeks had no effect on total testosterone.
Limitation: Negative result in men whose testosterone was already normal; the dose, about 71 µg a day, was roughly 7 times the 10 µg in Perforan.

Folic acid
Randomised, double-blind trial in 83 men with type 2 diabetes and erectile dysfunction, all taking tadalafil 10 mg every other day. Adding 5 mg of folic acid a day for 3 months raised the erectile function score (IIEF) more than adding placebo; both were well tolerated.
Limitation: Diabetic men already on a prescription medicine; the dose, 5 mg a day, was 12.5 times the 400 µg in Perforan, and it says nothing about folic acid taken on its own.

Large randomised, placebo-controlled trial in 2,370 men whose couples were about to start fertility treatment. 5 mg of folic acid plus 30 mg of zinc a day for 6 months did not improve semen quality or live birth rates; DNA fragmentation and digestive complaints were slightly more frequent than with placebo.
Limitation: Folic acid was always given together with zinc, so its own effect cannot be separated; the doses were much higher than in Perforan, and the outcome was fertility.

Selenium
Double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 69 subfertile men in Scotland with low sperm motility, over three months. Selenium (alone or with vitamins A, C and E) increased sperm motility but not sperm count; 5 men in the selenium groups became fathers, none in the placebo group.
Limitation: Small study in men with low selenium intake; the motility effect was only significant after combining the two selenium groups; Perforan supplies 60 µg, 109% of the NRV.

Systematic review of 30 years of laboratory, observational and clinical studies on selenium and reproduction. The few clinical trials support selenium supplements below 200 µg a day for male infertility, and both too little and too much selenium appear harmful.
Limitation: The authors say the trials are too few, small and uneven for general recommendations, and suggest checking blood selenium first; this is a review, not a new trial.
