What is it and how does it work?LipoFlame

Losing weight is hard when work, family and everyday life leave little room for strict diets or hours at the gym. That is why many people look at supplements. LipoFlame is a dietary supplement in capsules, sold on its official website as a natural formula to accompany a balanced diet and an active lifestyle.

Each bottle holds 30 capsules, which the official offer counts as a 30-day supply. Each capsule combines 11 ingredients: green tea extract, apple cider vinegar, berberine, ginger, cassia cinnamon, bitter orange, cayenne, banaba, Korean ginseng, resveratrol and chromium. According to the label, LipoFlame is made in the USA from domestic and imported ingredients and distributed in the EU by Digistore24.

Of these 11 ingredients, only chromium has authorised health claims in the EU: it contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism and to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels2. Claims for plants are still "on hold" in the official register1, and no ingredient is authorised to claim weight loss.

That is why we do not repeat the sales page's promises about fat burning: its own footer says the statements have not been evaluated by the authorities. What can be checked is the formula, and the studies on its ingredients, which we summarise further down. No study has been published on LipoFlame itself.

Let's be realistic: no capsule makes you lose weight on its own. Diet, physical activity, sleep, age and overall health matter far more, and every person responds differently.

The formula

Tap an ingredient to see its dose. The label gives the amount of each ingredient per capsule3; the percentage for chromium is the share of the nutrient reference value (NRV)4. The four ingredients without a photo (apple cider vinegar, berberine, banaba, chromium) are in the bars and the list below.

Two bottles of LipoFlame, 30 capsules each

  • Green tea leaf extract – 154 mg: The most dosed ingredient in the capsule. Green tea is studied mainly for its catechins; the label does not say how much catechin or caffeine the extract contains.
  • Apple cider vinegar – 150 mg: Apple cider vinegar in powder form. In studies, the active part is acetic acid, taken as liquid vinegar.
  • Berberine HCl – 95 mg: A yellow plant alkaloid found in barberry and goldenseal, widely studied for blood lipids and blood sugar.
  • Ginger root – 50 mg: The familiar cooking root, traditionally used for digestion.
  • Cassia cinnamon bark extract – 20 mg: Cassia is the most common cinnamon in the kitchen. Most studies use 1 to 6 g of the powder a day.
  • Bitter orange extract – 20 mg: Its main compound is p-synephrine; the label does not say how much synephrine the extract contains.
  • Cayenne fruit – 20 mg: Hot pepper, whose pungency comes from capsaicin.
  • Banaba leaf extract – 5 mg: Leaf of a tree from Southeast Asia, studied for corosolic acid and blood sugar.
  • Korean ginseng extract (aerial parts) – 5 mg: The label specifies an extract of the aerial parts of the plant, not the root used in most studies.
  • Resveratrol (from Japanese knotweed root extract) – 1 mg: A plant polyphenol best known from grapes, here taken from Japanese knotweed.
  • Chromium (as chromium picolinate) – 100 µg: A trace element. In the EU it is authorised to claim that it contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism and to normal blood glucose levels.

Ingredients on the label: green tea (Camellia sinensis) extract, apple cider vinegar, coating agent (hypromellose), berberine HCl, filler (microcrystalline cellulose), ginger (Zingiber officinale) root, cassia cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia) bark extract, bitter orange (Citrus aurantium L.) extract, cayenne (Capsicum annuum) fruit, anti-caking agents (magnesium salts of fatty acids, silicon dioxide), banaba (Lagerstroemia speciosa) leaf extract, Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng) extract from the aerial parts, resveratrol (from Japanese knotweed root extract), chromium (as chromium picolinate). Net weight 17.01 g.

Dosage and useOne a day

The official offer counts one bottle of 30 capsules as a 30-day supply (6 bottles = 180 days), that is one capsule a day. Be aware that the directions printed on the label say "adults take 1 ml (about 2 full droppers) twice a day", wording that does not fit capsules. If in doubt, ask customer service (support@thermoflownutra.com) before starting, and never exceed the recommended daily dose.

  • Take it every day, ideally at the same time
  • Swallow the capsule with a glass of water
  • Eat a varied, balanced diet
  • Stay active and get enough sleep
  • Store the bottle in a cool, dry place
  • Do not use if the safety seal is damaged or missing

Dietary supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of the reach of children.

Day 130 capsules = 30 days

Side effectsIs it safe?

The ingredients in LipoFlame are common in dietary supplements and, at these doses, are usually well tolerated. Digestive upset, intolerances or allergic reactions are still possible: if that happens, stop taking it and ask a doctor for advice.

According to the label, the product is not suitable for people under 18 or for pregnant or nursing women, and anyone taking medication, with a medical condition or under medical supervision should consult a doctor first. The label adds a specific warning: chromium can increase insulin sensitivity and affect blood sugar, so people with diabetes or prone to low blood sugar should only take it under medical supervision.

Berberine can interact with some medicines, and bitter orange contains a stimulant, p-synephrine: if you take medication, have high blood pressure or a heart condition, talk to your doctor first. Do not exceed the recommended dose. LipoFlame is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Pharmacy or Amazon?Where it is sold

Many people look for LipoFlame in pharmacies or on Amazon. The official checkout states that the product is not sold on Amazon and is only available through the official website, and that is the only place where we could check the offer, the prices and the 60-day guarantee.

  • Sold through the official website and the Digistore24 checkout, with a 60-day guarantee

  • Price, delivery cost and total are shown before you pay

Is LipoFlame a scam?The facts

Before buying a weight-management supplement online, it makes sense to look closely at the offer. The market is full of exaggerated promises, and the LipoFlame sales page talks about fat burning; we do not repeat its promises. What matters is what is in the bottle: a dietary supplement with a dosed label, not a medicine.

What is reassuring

  • Label with the dose of all 11 ingredients
  • 60-day money-back guarantee
  • One-time payment through Digistore24, no forced subscription
  • Price and delivery cost shown before you pay

Good to know

  • The doses are far below those used in the studies
  • The directions on the label speak of drops, which does not fit capsules
  • When we checked, the checkout only delivered to Germany
  • No study has been published on LipoFlame itself
  • Results vary from person to person

Our verdict: LipoFlame is not a scam in the sense of a product that never arrives or an unsafe payment: the label is complete, payment goes through Digistore24 and the guarantee is in writing. But it is a dietary supplement, not a treatment, and it does not replace a balanced diet, exercise or medical advice. If you want to try it, order from the official website so the guarantee applies.

Studies cited

For each ingredient, we list two studies found in the scientific literature. The summaries describe what each study measured and found. They do not promise results: most of these studies are small, short, or show mixed outcomes.

Green tea leaf extract (Camellia sinensis)

Meta-analysis of 11 studies on green tea catechins (or a catechin-caffeine mix) and body weight. On average, people lost about 1.3 kg more than with control, a small effect that seemed weaker in people who already drank a lot of caffeine.

Limitation: The studies used measured doses of catechins, often several hundred mg a day. LipoFlame contains 154 mg of green tea extract per capsule and does not state its catechin content.

Cochrane review of 14 trials of at least 12 weeks in adults with overweight or obesity. Outside Japan, green tea made no meaningful difference to weight (about 0.04 kg); the authors judged the effect small, not statistically significant and unlikely to matter clinically.

Limitation: The most rigorous review available, and its result is negative. The doses tested were higher than the 154 mg of extract in a LipoFlame capsule.

Jurgens TM, Whelan AM, Killian L, et al. Cochrane Database Syst Rev. 2012;12:CD008650. PMID 23235664 · Read on PubMed

Apple cider vinegar

Double-blind trial in obese Japanese adults over 12 weeks: a daily drink with 15 or 30 ml of vinegar (750 or 1,500 mg of acetic acid) or a placebo drink. Body weight, BMI, visceral fat, waist and triglycerides were lower in both vinegar groups than with placebo.

Limitation: Liquid vinegar, funded by a vinegar maker, and the differences were modest. LipoFlame contains 150 mg of apple cider vinegar powder per capsule, far less acetic acid than in the trial.

Kondo T, Kishi M, Fushimi T, et al. Biosci Biotechnol Biochem. 2009;73(8):1837-1843. PMID 19661687 · Read on PubMed

Test meals in 12 healthy volunteers: white bread eaten with three amounts of vinegar or without. The more acetic acid, the lower the blood sugar and insulin response after the meal and the higher the feeling of fullness.

Limitation: A single meal in 12 people, with vinegar taken with the food. It says nothing about weight over time or about vinegar powder in a capsule.

Berberine HCl

Meta-analysis of 12 randomised trials. Berberine lowered body weight by about 2 kg on average, BMI by about 0.5 and waist by about 1 cm, along with CRP, an inflammation marker; liver enzymes did not change.

Limitation: Most trials used 500 to 1,500 mg of berberine a day, often in people with metabolic disorders. LipoFlame contains 95 mg per capsule.

Asbaghi O, Ghanbari N, Shekari M, et al. Clin Nutr ESPEN. 2020;38:43-49. PMID 32690176 · Read on PubMed

Pilot study in obese adults: 500 mg of berberine three times a day for 12 weeks. Weight fell slightly (about 2.3 kg on average), while triglycerides fell by 23% and cholesterol by 12%.

Limitation: Small pilot without a placebo group, at 1,500 mg a day: about 16 times the 95 mg in a LipoFlame capsule.

Ginger root (Zingiber officinale)

Meta-analysis of 14 randomised trials (473 people with overweight or obesity). Ginger slightly lowered body weight, waist-to-hip ratio, fasting blood sugar and insulin resistance, but not BMI.

Limitation: Small trials with doses of usually 1 to 3 g of ginger a day. LipoFlame contains 50 mg per capsule.

Crossover pilot study in 10 overweight men: breakfast with or without 2 g of ginger powder in a hot drink. With ginger, the heat produced after the meal rose slightly (about 43 kcal a day) and hunger was lower; resting energy use, blood sugar and lipids did not change.

Limitation: A single morning in 10 men, with 2 g of ginger: 40 times the 50 mg in a LipoFlame capsule.

Cassia cinnamon bark extract (Cinnamomum cassia)

Meta-analysis of 12 randomised trials (786 adults). Cinnamon lowered body weight by about 1 kg, BMI by about 0.5 and waist by about 2.4 cm; fat mass fell mainly at doses of 2 g a day or more taken for at least 12 weeks.

Limitation: The effects appeared at gram doses. LipoFlame contains 20 mg of cinnamon extract per capsule, and the extract strength is not stated.

Mousavi SM, Rahmani J, Kord-Varkaneh H, et al. Clin Nutr. 2020;39(1):123-133. PMID 30799194 · Read on PubMed

Meta-analysis of 10 randomised trials in 543 people with type 2 diabetes, with 120 mg to 6 g of cinnamon a day for 4 to 18 weeks. Fasting blood sugar, total and LDL cholesterol and triglycerides fell; long-term blood sugar (HbA1c) did not change.

Limitation: This is about blood sugar in people with diabetes, not about weight, and the results varied a lot from one study to another. It does not count as evidence for weight management.

Bitter orange extract (Citrus aurantium)

Placebo-controlled study with 10 people per group, measured 75 minutes after a single dose. 50 mg of p-synephrine alone raised resting metabolism by about 65 kcal compared with placebo; the increase was only statistically significant with an added flavonoid combination. Heart rate and blood pressure did not change.

Limitation: Tiny groups, a single dose and authors linked to the maker of the extract. LipoFlame contains 20 mg of bitter orange extract per capsule, which would contain much less than 50 mg of p-synephrine (the content is not stated).

Stohs SJ, Preuss HG, Keith SC, et al. Int J Med Sci. 2011;8(4):295-301. PMID 21537493 · Read on PubMed

Double-blind crossover trial in 14 healthy people: p-synephrine (3 mg per kg of body weight) or placebo before one hour of cycling. Total energy use did not change, but fat burned during the exercise rose slightly (about 37 g versus 34 g).

Limitation: A single exercise session, and about 200 mg of pure p-synephrine for a 70 kg person: far beyond the 20 mg of extract in a LipoFlame capsule.

Gutiérrez-Hellín J, Ruiz-Moreno C, Del Coso J. Eur J Nutr. 2020;59(7):3341-3345. PMID 31691018 · Read on PubMed

Cayenne fruit (Capsicum annuum)

Crossover trial in 25 lean adults given a meal with 1 g of red pepper, their preferred amount, or none. With 1 g, energy use and body temperature after the meal rose; in people who rarely ate spicy food, the next meal was smaller. The effect was strongest when the pepper was tasted, not swallowed in a capsule.

Limitation: Short-term effects after one meal, in lean people. 1 g is 50 times the 20 mg of cayenne in a LipoFlame capsule, and the study suggests the capsule form weakens the effect.

Ludy MJ, Mattes RD. Physiol Behav. 2011;102(3-4):251-258. PMID 21093467 · Read on PubMed

Meta-analysis of 8 trials (191 people) on capsaicinoids, the hot compounds in chilli. Taken before a meal, they reduced the amount eaten at that meal by about 74 kcal; the authors estimate that at least 2 mg of capsaicinoids is needed.

Limitation: Effects on single meals with high variability between studies. 20 mg of cayenne powder usually contains well under 2 mg of capsaicinoids; LipoFlame does not state the content.

Banaba leaf extract (Lagerstroemia speciosa)

Trial in people with type 2 diabetes given 32 or 48 mg a day of a banaba extract standardised to 1% corosolic acid for 2 weeks. Blood sugar fell, by 30% with soft-gel capsules and 20% with powder capsules.

Limitation: Very short, in people with diabetes, and about blood sugar, not weight. LipoFlame contains 5 mg of banaba extract per capsule, with no stated corosolic acid content.

Judy WV, Hari SP, Stogsdill WW, et al. J Ethnopharmacol. 2003;87(1):115-117. PMID 12787964 · Read on PubMed

Double-blind crossover study in 31 adults, most with diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance: 10 mg of corosolic acid or placebo before a glucose drink. Blood sugar was lower from 60 to 120 minutes, significantly at 90 minutes.

Limitation: A single test with the isolated compound, about blood sugar only. There is no study on banaba and body weight that we can cite; for this ingredient the evidence linked to weight management is missing.

Fukushima M, Matsuyama F, Ueda N, et al. Diabetes Res Clin Pract. 2006;73(2):174-177. PMID 16549220 · Read on PubMed

Korean ginseng extract (Panax ginseng)

Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 50 obese women for 8 weeks with Korean red ginseng. Weight and BMI improved within the ginseng group, but compared with placebo only obesity-related quality of life was better; weight, fat and metabolism did not differ.

Limitation: Negative result against placebo, with ginseng root in gram doses. LipoFlame contains 5 mg of an extract of the aerial parts of the plant, not the root.

Kwon DH, Bose S, Song MY, et al. J Ginseng Res. 2012;36(2):176-189. PMID 23717118 · Read on PubMed

Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 68 overweight or obese adults without diabetes: 6 g a day of Korean red ginseng rootlets for 12 weeks. Insulin sensitivity did not improve.

Limitation: Negative result, about insulin rather than weight, at 6 g a day: more than 1,000 times the 5 mg in a LipoFlame capsule.

Cho YH, Ahn SC, Lee SY, et al. Asia Pac J Clin Nutr. 2013;22(3):365-371. PMID 23945406 · Read on PubMed

Resveratrol (from Japanese knotweed)

Double-blind crossover trial in 11 healthy obese men: 150 mg of resveratrol a day or placebo for 30 days. Resveratrol lowered resting and sleeping metabolic rate, liver fat, blood sugar and triglycerides, changes the authors compare to the effects of calorie restriction.

Limitation: Very small sample, and the metabolic rate went down, not up. LipoFlame contains 1 mg of resveratrol per capsule, 150 times less than in the trial.

Timmers S, Konings E, Bilet L, et al. Cell Metab. 2011;14(5):612-622. PMID 22055504 · Read on PubMed

Umbrella review of 19 meta-analyses (81 trials, 4,088 people). Resveratrol slightly reduced BMI and waist circumference and some inflammation markers; overall it did not change body weight, except in trials of at least 12 weeks or at doses of 500 mg a day or more.

Limitation: Small effects, and the weight effect only appeared at 500 mg a day or more. LipoFlame contains 1 mg per capsule.

Chromium (as chromium picolinate)

Cochrane review of 9 randomised trials (622 adults with overweight or obesity) on chromium picolinate at 200 to 1,000 µg a day. Weight fell by about 1.1 kg more than with placebo after 12 to 16 weeks, an effect of debatable clinical relevance; the authors found no reliable evidence for firm conclusions.

Limitation: Low-quality evidence according to the review. The trials used at least 200 µg a day; LipoFlame contains 100 µg per capsule.

Tian H, Guo X, Wang X, et al. Cochrane Database Syst Rev. 2013;(11):CD010063. PMID 24293292 · Read on PubMed

Systematic review of 20 randomised trials, with a meta-analysis of 11, on chromium in overweight and obesity. Chromium led to about 0.5 kg more weight loss than placebo, a statistically significant but small effect of uncertain clinical relevance. Side effects included watery stools, dizziness, headaches and hives.

Limitation: Very small effect, with high variability between trials. Chromium is the only ingredient in LipoFlame with authorised EU claims, but none of them concerns weight.
