What is it and how does it work?ActivTesto
Less energy than before, less drive, the feeling of having lost a bit of your edge: with age and stress, many men know the feeling. ActivTesto (label: "TESTO+") is a food supplement made for them, sold in Germany and Austria by the Swiss company Taikine SA.
The idea is simple: two capsules a day containing shilajit extract, two amino acids (L-arginine and L-citrulline), ginseng root extract, zinc and selenium. Each bottle holds 60 capsules, which is one month's supply.
Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood. Selenium contributes to normal spermatogenesis.
These are two health claims authorised in the European Union for these nutrients, both listed in the official EU register1. With 5 mg of zinc and 27.5 µg of selenium per day, the formula provides 50% of the reference intake for each. The other ingredients are plant extracts and amino acids commonly found in men's formulas.
Let's be realistic: no supplement guarantees results. Age, sleep, diet, exercise and overall health all play a big role, and every man responds differently.
The formula
Tap an ingredient to see its dose. The manufacturer lists every amount, which many competing products don't. The % NRV figures refer to the EU reference intakes3.
- Shilajit extract – 150 mg: A mineral and plant resin from the mountains of Asia, long used in the Ayurvedic tradition.
- L-arginine – 100 mg: An amino acid found in food (meat, nuts, pulses), common in men's formulas.
- L-citrulline – 100 mg: An amino acid found in watermelon, among other foods, and often paired with L-arginine.
- Panax ginseng root extract – 90 mg: A root used in Asia for centuries and one of the most studied plants in the world.
- Zinc – 5 mg (50% NRV): Contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood.
- Selenium – 27.5 µg (50% NRV): Contributes to normal spermatogenesis.
The full ingredient list reads: shilajit extract (Asphaltum punjabianum), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (plant-based capsule shell), L-arginine, L-citrulline, Panax ginseng root extract, anti-caking agent (magnesium salts of fatty acids), zinc sulphate and selenium-enriched yeast.
How to take itTwo a day
Recommended use: two (2) capsules a day with a large glass of water, preferably in the morning. Do not exceed this dose. A bottle of 60 capsules therefore lasts one month.
- Take the capsules every day, ideally with breakfast
- Drink enough water throughout the day
- Eat a varied, balanced diet
- Stay active and get enough sleep
- Store the bottle in a cool, dry place away from light
- Keep your expectations realistic
Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Side effectsIs it safe?
ActivTesto's ingredients are generally well tolerated. According to the official website, no known side effects have been reported, but individual contraindications are possible. If you notice an intolerance or allergic reaction, stop taking it and see a doctor.
The manufacturer states that the product is for adults only and is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or for people on antidiabetic treatment. It advises seeing a doctor first, especially if you take medication or have particular health conditions.
Stick to the daily dose and keep the bottle out of reach of children. ActivTesto is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Safety and money-back guaranteeCovered for a year
According to the official website, the first order is covered by a one-year money-back guarantee from receipt (valid once per customer). You first contact customer service, who give you the return address; the customer pays for return postage, and the refund is made within 14 days of the return being approved.
This guarantee comes on top of the legal 14-day right of withdrawal. The seller is Taikine SA, a company based in Préverenges, Switzerland, which states that its products meet Swiss standards. The website does not say where the product is made.
Payment is made on the official website by card or PayPal. According to the terms of sale, orders are dispatched within 72 working hours of payment being confirmed.
Where to buyThe official packs
The safest option is the official website. A product bought elsewhere is not necessarily covered by the guarantee, and there is no way to check its origin or contents. Note: the discounted prices are for the "scheduled deliveries" option, a subscription that sends new orders automatically; without a subscription, a bottle costs €79.90.

Pharmacy, dm or Amazon?Where you can find it
Many people look for ActivTesto in pharmacies (Apotheke), at dm or on Amazon. When we checked on 19 October 2026, we didn't find it on Amazon.de, at dm or on Shop Apotheke: it is sold on its official website.
The ActivTesto in this review

- Sold on the official website, with the one-year guarantee
Why buy from the official website
- It is where the original ActivTesto is sold
- The one-year money-back guarantee applies to the first order
- Prices with and without a subscription are shown before you confirm
Is ActivTesto a scam?The facts
The men's supplement market is full of exaggerated promises. ActivTesto's sales pages talk about performance and stamina in very enthusiastic terms; we don't repeat those promises. What matters is what is in the bottle: a food supplement with a fully listed formula, not a medicine.
Reassuring points
- Complete formula, with the dose of every ingredient
- Official EU claims for zinc and selenium
- Named seller: Taikine SA, Switzerland
- One-year money-back guarantee
Worth knowing
- The best prices require an auto-renewing subscription
- The guarantee only applies to the first order
- The customer pays for return postage
- Only sold on the official website
- Results vary from person to person
Our verdict: ActivTesto is a food supplement with transparent dosing, not a treatment. It does not replace a balanced diet or a doctor's advice. If you want to try it, buy from the official website so the guarantee applies, and choose knowingly between a one-off purchase and the subscription.

Studies cited
For each ingredient, we list two studies found in the scientific literature. The summaries describe what each study measured and found. They do not promise results: most of these studies are small or short, used doses different from those in ActivTesto, and some found no effect.
Shilajit (Asphaltum punjabianum)
Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in healthy men aged 45 to 55. 250 mg of purified shilajit twice a day for 90 days increased total testosterone, free testosterone and DHEAS compared with placebo; LH and FSH stayed stable.
Limitation: A single trial by one research group, using a specific purified extract; the daily dose (500 mg) was more than three times the 150 mg in ActivTesto.
Pandit S, Biswas S, Jana U, et al. Andrologia. 2016;48(5):570-5. PMID 26395129 · Read on PubMed
Study in 35 men with a low sperm count: 100 mg of processed shilajit twice a day for 90 days. In the 28 who completed it, total sperm count rose by 61% and serum testosterone by 23% compared with their starting values, with no change in liver or kidney tests.
Limitation: No placebo group, so part of the change may have other causes; men with fertility problems, from the same research group as the trial above.

L-arginine
Systematic review and meta-analysis of 10 randomised trials with 540 men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction. Arginine at 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day improved erectile dysfunction compared with placebo or no treatment (odds ratio 3.37).
Limitation: Small trials in men who already had erectile dysfunction; the doses were 15 to 50 times the 100 mg in ActivTesto.
Rhim HC, Kim MS, Park YJ, et al. J Sex Med. 2019;16(2):223-234. PMID 30770070 · Read on PubMed
Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 50 men with organic erectile dysfunction. 5 g a day for six weeks. 9 of 29 men on arginine reported a subjective improvement, against 2 of 17 on placebo; objective measures did not change.
Limitation: Older, small study; the improvement was self-reported, objective measures did not change, and the dose was 50 times that in ActivTesto.

L-citrulline
Single-blind study in 24 men with mild erectile dysfunction (average age 56): one month of placebo, then one month of 1.5 g of L-citrulline a day. Erection hardness reached the normal score in 12 of 24 men with L-citrulline, against 2 of 24 with placebo.
Limitation: Small study, not randomised, one month only; the dose was 15 times the 100 mg in ActivTesto.

Systematic review and meta-analysis of 10 placebo-controlled studies on citrulline and aerobic exercise. Citrulline did not improve aerobic performance, perceived exertion, oxygen uptake or lactate.
Limitation: Negative result for performance; the authors note a possible trend with longer use that needs more studies.

Panax ginseng root
Cochrane systematic review of 9 randomised trials comparing ginseng with placebo in men with erectile dysfunction. Ginseng had a trivial effect on the erectile function score, may have improved self-reported ability to have intercourse, and caused no more side effects than placebo.
Limitation: The authors rate the certainty of the evidence as low; the trials used different types and doses of ginseng.

Double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 143 men with erectile dysfunction: 1,000 mg of a tissue-cultured mountain ginseng extract twice a day for 8 weeks. Erectile function and overall satisfaction scores were higher than with placebo.
Limitation: Only 86 of the 143 men completed the trial; it used a different ginseng preparation at 2 g a day, more than 20 times the 90 mg in ActivTesto.

Zinc
Study in healthy men. Restricting dietary zinc for 20 weeks lowered testosterone in 4 young men, and three to six months of zinc in 9 older men with a marginal deficiency raised it.
Limitation: Very small groups without placebo; the effect concerns men with a zinc deficiency.
Prasad AS, Mantzoros CS, Beck FW, Hess JW, Brewer GJ. Nutrition. 1996;12(5):344-8. PMID 8875519 · Read on PubMed
Study in 14 healthy, active men aged 22 to 33 with enough zinc in their diet. A high-dose zinc supplement raised blood zinc but did not change total or free testosterone.
Limitation: Negative result in men without a deficiency; small group.

Selenium
Double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 69 subfertile men in Scotland with low sperm motility, over three months. Selenium (alone or with vitamins A, C and E) increased sperm motility but not sperm count; 5 men in the selenium groups became fathers, none in the placebo group.
Limitation: Small study in men with low selenium intake; the motility effect was only significant after combining the two selenium groups.

Systematic review of 30 years of laboratory, observational and clinical studies on selenium and reproduction. The few clinical trials support selenium supplements below 200 µg a day for male infertility, and both too little and too much selenium appear harmful.
Limitation: The authors say the trials are too few, small and uneven for general recommendations, and suggest checking blood selenium first.
